Photos and content - Martin Powell-Davies

This website - occasionally tweaked and updated as we go back to the fells from our home in Kendal - is designed to help you to walk all of the 214 fells listed in the (now fully revised!) Wainwright's Walking guides. Use the tabs at the top of the page as an index to each of the seven areas.

Our walks around the Lake District Fells confirmed that there's no substitute for Wainwright's guides – along with the required OS maps to go with them. However, we also realised that some photographs and directions to accompany the guides would help many walkers, both in planning ahead and in route-finding while on the walk itself.

So, while there are many other websites to choose from, here are my photographs and preferred routes if they can be of any assistance in helping you to enjoy walking as many - or as few - of the "Wainwrights" as you like!

PLEASE TAKE CARE

Please remember, my photos are usually taken on days when the sun is shining. Sadly, that's not always the case! Always check the weather, bring a map and compass and wear suitable clothing/footwear.
